Bollywood industry which is known for its liveliness have provided several hit movies in the year 2011 but along with it, they have lost some real gems of the Bollywood industry in the same year like Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand, Navin Nischol and Goga Kapoor or Anthony Gomes. They have also lost some filmmakers like Surinder Kapoor, Shamin Desai, Jagmohan Mundhra, Mani Kaul and MF Hussain as well as signers like Jagjit Singh, Bhimsen Joshi, Suchitra Mitra, Bhupen Hazarika.
Shammi Kapoor: One of the famous Bollywood actors popularly known as dancing star of Indian industry, died at the Breach Candy hospital on 14th August, 2011 at 5.15 am on Sunday. He was died of kidney failure. At the time of death, he was 79-year-old. He had been unwell from past few months and was on dialysis. He was the second son of Prithviraj Kapoor who entered in the Hindi cinema in the year 1948 as a junior artist. His debut movie with a lead role came in the year 1953 with Jeevan Jyoti. He had starred in several Blockbuster Hindi films. Other successful movies of him include Junglee, Professor, Brahmchari and Janwar. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Dev Anand: Most romantic hero of Bollywood industry, Dev Anand was also died in the same year because of heart attack. He was died in London on 3rd December, 2011 where he was with his son. At that time, he was 88-year-old. He made his debut in the Hindi film industry with the movie Hum Ek Hain in the year 1946. In next few years, he became the most desirable and demanding star of the Indian cinema. His good look, melodious voice made him popular among girls. Later, he tried his luck in film direction and produced number of movies.
Navin Nischol: Another Bollywood star Navin Nischol also died in 2011. He was died of heart attack on 19th March, 2011 when he was coming back to Mumbai from Pune after spending Holi. The producer Gurdeep Singh was with him at that time. At the time of his death, he was 65-year-old. He started his debut with actress Rekha in Saawan Badho and later had appeared in several movies. He played important roles in several hit movies.
Goga Kapoor: Goga Kapoor aka Anthony Gomes, a character artist was also passed away in the year 2011. He was died on 2nd March, 2011. At the time of death, he was 70-years-old. He was remembered for his villainous roles during 80s and 90s.
Jagjit Singh: Jagjit Singh, one of the renowned singers was also passed away on 10th October, 2011 at 8 am in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. He was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on 23rd September because of his brain hemorrhage problem. He was commonly called as ‘The Ghazal King’, and got fame in the Bollywood industry in 1970s and 1980s. He was the one who brought ghazals into Bollywood mainstream songs.
Pandit Bhimsen Joshi: Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, famous Hindustani classical musician was died on 24th January, 2011. He was died of his prolonged illness at Sahyadri Hospital in Pune around 8.05 am. He was 89-year-old when he died. He was famous vocalist and had sung many Bollywood songs for numerous movies like Basant Bahar, Birbal My Brother etc.
Bhupen Hazarika: Bhupen Hazarika, one of Assamese singers was died on 5th November, 2011. He was died of multi organ failure at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai. He had been unwell few days back and was admitted to the hospital. He was known for introducing sounds and folk music of Assam and Northeast India to the Bollywood industry.
Suchitra Mitra: Suchitra Mitra, well known singer was died on 3rd January, 2011. She was died of cardiac problem while having her lunch. She was died at her residence located in South Kolkata when having lunch. She was died at the age of 86.
Surinder Kapoor: One of the famous producers, Surinder Kapoor who has given many talented actors to the Bollywood industry like Anil Kapoor was died on 24th September, 2011. He was died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Mumbai. He had produced several hit Bollywood movies such as Mr India, Judaai, Loafer, Pukar, No Entry and many more.
MF Husain: Maqbool Fida Husain popularly known as MF Husain was died on 9th June 2011. He was died of heart attack at Royal Brompton Hospital, London. He was 95 years old when died. He was great fan of Madhuri Dixit and thus directed and produced a movie with her named Gaja Gamini.
Vivek Shauq: Vivek Shauq a famous comedian, actor was died on 10th January, 2011. He was died of heart attack in Mumbai. He was only 47 years old. He was a noted writer and singer. Vivek Shauq had acted in various Hindi and Punjabi movies, serials, theatre and commercials.
Rami Reddy: Rami Reddy was died on 14th April, 2011. He was died of kidney failure. He was admitted to KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad for the treatment of his kidney. He was died at the age of 52. He was known for his Villainous role in various Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Bhojpuri movies. Some of the Bollywood movies in which he had worked were Anth with Sunil Shetty, Gunda with Mithun Chakraborty, Jaanwar with Akshay Kumar, Khuddar, Waqt Hamara Hai, Krodh, & Talaash etc.
Mani Kaul: Mani Kaul was died on 6th July, 2011. He was died of his prolonged illness at his residence in Gurgaon, New Delhi. He was a noted filmmaker who was one of the pioneers of new Indian cinema. Famous movies directed by him include Uski Roti, Ashad Ka Ek Din, Duvidha and Idiot.
Jagmohan Mundhra: Jagmohan Mundhra was died on 4th September, 2011. He was died due to internal bleeding. At that time he was the age of 62. He was Hollywood based Indian director who had made movies like Provoked, Bawandar.Share
