Mumbai Indians vs. Kings XI Punjab: Today on 2nd of May, 2011, there were match played between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. The match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India. Kings XI Punjab won the toss & elected to field first. Till now the performance of Kings XI was not so good and so it was mandatory for them to win this match. But unfortunately, the luck was bad and they lost the match. Although the players gave their best till the end of the match and did not lose hope, yet they lost the match by 23 runs. But great efforts had done by their players.
Mumbai Indians inning: After winning the toss, Kings XI had decided that Mumbai Indians will bat first and they will chase the score. So Mumbai Indians started their inning and lost their first wicket at the score of 14 in 2.3 over. Davy Jacobs was the target who knocked by Bipul Sharma. Thereafter Ambati Rayudu came and gave full support to Sachin Tendulkar and took the score to 109. Both were playing so well and now it was challenge for the Kings XI team to break this partnership. Both were supporting each other and played a good game. Finally Kings XI got success in 14.3 over when Ambati Rayudu played a bad shot and was knocked by Piyush Chawla. He was at the score of 51 in just 37 balls. This was really a superb inning played by him. After that Sachin Tendulkar was also went back to pavilion by making 51 runs. This was the other shock for the team but till the time, the team score was reached at 129 in 16.2 over. Then Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma played and went back to the green room by making 20 and 18 runs respectively. The team ended the match 159 runs with the loss of five wickets in 20 over. Andrew Symonds and Tirumalasetti Suman were remaining on the field at the end of the inning.
Kings XI inning: Now the time for Kings XI to play and they started their inning with the loss of their first wicket in just fifth ball of the first over. It was Adam Gilschrist who was knocked by Harbhajan Singh. This was the first loss and was big loss. Then Paul Valthaty and Shaun Marsh tackle the situation and tried to take the match into their side and one time it was seem like they will get succeed but unfortunately Paul Valthaty was knocked by Andrew Symonds. Thereafter no players could stand on the field for long and went back one by one. It was only Shaun Marsh who was trying to balance the match. On the other side, Mumbai Indians was only worried about his stay on the field, but finally they got success in 18.5 over and knocked by Lasith Malinga. This was the last hope of the Kings XI team and with his wicket all hopes were shattered down. Finally the team was ended with the score of 136 in 20 overs with the loss of eight wickets. Not good news for Kings XI supporters. Thus Mumbai Indians won the match by 23 runs and Kieron Pollard was the man of the match for his all-round performance.Share
