About Satinder Sartaj: Satinder Sartaj is well known sufi singer. He has made his name at very young age. Not only Indian people but people from other countries also liked his voice. He is man with his own style or singing. He is not a son of star that he can get everything with ease. He comes from a simple village of Bajrawarpur, which is in Hoshiarpur in state Punjab of India. He started singing at very early stage of life at school level and with his increasing interest he opt music as his stream. He has passion for singing Punjabi sufi songs which makes him a good singer. He is getting popularity due to his own talent. He has done concerts in several countries and has got great applause from people wherever he performed. It will not be wrong to say that he is among the best rising singers with his own identity. As he lived in village at early stage of life so he knows the phenomenon of ecological growth and understands it well. The songs he has still song shows his love to nature as well. He used to appreciate beauty and fragrance of flowers, spectrum or rainbow, the water springs in calm surroundings beside the melodic strains of music which flowed from a flute and sarangi. These were instruments sung by nomadic people and Stainder Sartaj has dedicated several songs to nature.

Educational details: Satinder from a simple village and he initiated his study from his school. He went to nearby village schools like in village Chabbewal and Patti. When Satinder is asked about his schooling, he replied that he stated performing at the Bal Sabhas when he was studying in third standard in his village and it was start of his journey. He joined graduation at a Government college in Hoshiarpur after finishing his schooling. He did his graduation in music honors because of his deep love for music. He had also joined Sangeet Visharad to improve his musical skills. It was good time for him to learn enough about classical music in this five year diploma in classical music from Jallandhar in Punjab. After finishing his graduation and diploma in classical music, he went to capital city of Punjab, Chandigarh to do his masters in music. He did masters in music from Panjab University Campus. He had great zeal to learn about music due to which he continued his study and did his M.Phil and Ph. D as well with specialization in sufi music. To further understand the sufi music and poetry, he did certificate course and diploma in language, Persian called Farsi. Now he had good knowledge about sufi music as well as poetry so he started writing his own poems and make his poetic name SARTAAJ. Currently, Dr. Satinder Sartaj s teaching at the Department of Music in Panjab University, Chandigarh from last six years. It is same university where he did he studied so it is pleasure to teach in same university. Satinder Sartaaj says that the sufi music connects him with God.

Albums of Satinder Sartaj: Satinder Sartaj needs not any introduction as he is among the best singers in his field. He is gifted with the melodious voice and a remarkable range in all musical intervals of eight tones. He has proved his singing skills with his every concert or album. Whether he performed in India, Canada, New Zealand or Australia, all countries enjoyed his music and people were unable to move from their seats. Mehfil-E-Sartaaj was live concert by Satinder Sartaj and his every song was liked by people. This album was directed by music director Jatinder Shah while lyrics were written by singer Satinder Sartaj himself. Titles of songs of album were Sai, Vekhan, Ammi, Je Koi, Dil, Motiya, Paani and Mann kun to. 2009 released “Ibadat” from Satinder Sartaj also got huge popularity. This album has seven songs and all were on the lips of people after the release of album. This album included songs Ibadat, Judaaiyan, Mann, Umaran De Sathi, Tappe, Aa Mil Yaar and Tere Qurban. Release of album “Sartaaj” in year 2010 again proved that he is real Sartaaj in his sufi music. The songs of the album were Sai, Paani Panjan Daryawan Wala, Nikki Jehi Kuri, Filhaal, Jitt De Nishaan, Ammi, Gall Tajurbe Wali, Dil Pehlan Jeha Ni Riha, Heeriye-faqeeriye and Sab Te Laagu. April 2010, another album was released with name “Mehfil Sartaj Di” and it is again among hit albums. This album’s songs have titles Sher, Sai, Sach Kahani, Yamaha, Jitt De Nishaan, Yaar Punjabi, Paani, Seeti, Je Koi Gall, Piche Ki Bachda, Nikki Jehi Kuri, Tappe, Bapu Ji Vi Pushde Si, Filhaal and Dil Sab De Vakhre Ne. One cannot resist hearing his albums as his every song comes from his inner soul which makes them so special for listeners.

Honors for Satinder Sartaj:
Satinder Sartaj has talent and he has proved it several levels. He has won several awards. Sartaaj means supreme and he has proved it. He won the best sufi singer award among thirty two countries at Dubai International Cultural Festival. It is highest award he has got so far. He has several other achievements which cannot be neglected. Satinder Sartaj featured in documentary made on life of Sayyad Waris Shah on Zee Punjabi in year 2003. He became the guest artist in Zee Antakshri show with well known personality Anu Kapoor. Cultural department of Government of India awarded him scholarship for his brilliant sufi music skills. Satinder Sartaj stood at first runner up position in 24th All-India Light Vocal competition. He won the title of Punjab Heritage Foundation, Patiala. He has got several other honors from several institutions like Panjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi university Patiala, Army Head Quarters Chandigarh, Indian Microelectronics Society, Global Punjab Organization Delhi, OSHO World Delhi & Panchkula, Deputy Commissioner Mansa, DAV group of institutions. Rotaract Club Chandigarh awarded him “The Youth Icon Award” for his achievements at young age. He is invited by several institutes as judge and many newspapers as well as new channels took his interviews.
