Deccan Chargers frustrate Chennai Super Kings: Defending champion Deccan Chargers defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Chennai Super Kings had won five matches from first ten matches they played and they had scope to enter semifinal by winning other matches. Yesterday, they had their eleventh match of third season of IPL and they lost it which frustrated them. Deccan Chargers had lost six matches from first ten matches while after winning this match they also became equivalent to Chennai Super Kings with ten points. If Chennai Super Kings would have won the match then this would have helped them in moving one step forward but Deccan Chargers destroyed their hopes.
Suresh Raina’s effort went waste: Chennai Super Kings had won the toss and elected to bat first. Team scored total of 138 runs losing eight wockets in 20 over. From Chennai Super Kings only Suresh Raina scored noticeable runs while rest of all players failed to contribute for the team. Team lost opening batsmen earlier. Mathew Hayden scored 19 runs while Murli Vijay added 23 runs from his bat. After them only Suresh Raina contributed well and rest of batsmen lost wickets on single digit scores. Skipper M S Dhoni is well known for big hits but he also failed to contribute much for team and was sent to pavilion when he was at an individual score of 7 runs. Hussey added 8 runs before being caught by Sumanth on the ball of Andrew Symonds. Suresh Raina played brilliant inning of 52 runs off 42 balls with four fours and two sixes. His noticeable contribute made reach total of 138 runs otherwise team would have crashed in two digit score.
After bowlers, Suman played key role in Deccan Chargers victory: Chennai Super Kings had given target of 139 runs to win. It was good bowling attack by Deccan Chargers bowlers due to which they restricted opponent team on such a total. Harris took 3 wickets giving 18 runs of his four over. Harmeet Singh and Andrew Symonds also showed good bowling and were economical bowlers for the team. After bowlers did good job, it was turn of batting squad to get the winning total. Deccan Chargers lost their openers early. Skipper Adam Gilchrist lost his wicket after adding just seven runs while another opener MD Mishra also lost his wicket on fourth ball of same over. Both of them became victim of Ashwin. Team was in critical situation as they had lost both openers at total of 36 runs. TL Suman took command for the team to score quick runs. Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after adding just 8 runs but Suman continued his natural game. Suman played extremely well and scored 55 runs off 44 balls with four fours and two sixes in his brilliant inning. Suman made team reach in a comfortable position. When team lost him, team was at total of 107 runs in 16.1 overs. At end Andrew Symonds and Smith made team winning total scoring unbeaten 27 and 13 runs respectively.
