Indian Premier League match on April 8, 2010: 40th match of third season of Indian Premier League was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers had faced each other before in final of second edition of Indian Premier League in Bangalore v Deccan at Johannesburg on May 24, 2009 while they did not face each other in third season. It was their first match against each other of this season while both teams had played nine matches in tournament so far. Royal Challengers Bangalore had won five of nine matches they played while on other hand Deccan Chargers won only three matches and lost rest of six matches. Deccan Chargers won the coin toss and elected to field first. Batting first Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 184 runs losing six wickets in limited 20 over inning. In return, Deccan Chargers played extremely well and got the winning total losing three wickets when fours balls were remaining to bowl. Deccan Chargers won the match by seven wickets and it is their fourth victory of this season. TL Suman played brilliant inning for Deccan Chargers which made team win the match and he was suitably rewarded with man of the match award.
Royal Challengers Bangalore innings: Royal Challengers Bangalore was invited by Deccan Chargers to bat first. MK Pandey started the inning for Royal Challengers Bangalore along with JH Kallis. Team lost first wicket as Pandey very early in the game when he had added only one run from his bat and team was at total of 18 runs in 2.3 overs. He became victim of Harris. Rahul Dravid came to bat at number three and he tried to contribute for the team. Rahul Dravid was caught by Rohit Sharma on the ball of Pargyan Ojha on fourth ball of ninth over. He scored 26 runs off 25 balls with 2 fours and 1 six in his inning. Robin Uthappa was next man to join Kallis in middle but he failed to add much for the team and lost his wicjte after adding just two runs of his bat. He was caught by Adam Gilchrist on the ball of Andrew Symonds. LRPL Taylor found leg before wicket on the second ball he faced and he made just one run and became victim of Ojha. Team had lost their four batsmen at total of 68 runs in 10.1 over. Virat Kohli and Kallis controlled the situation of the team and played extremely well. They made partnership of 95 runs for fifth wicket before team Kallis on fifth ball of nineteenth over. He was at an individual score of 68 runs off 44 balls with 9 fours and 1 six when he was caught by Harris on the ball of Marsh. CL White replaced Kallis in middle. Virat Kohli was caught by Symonds on the ball of Harris on fourth ball of last over. He played extremely well and scored 58 runs off 35 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes in his brilliant inning. CL White played just 3 balls and scored 13 runs with 2 sixes in his inning. Royal Challengers Bangalore scored total of 184 runs in 20 over match losing six wickets.Harris and Ojha clinched two wickets each while Andrew Symonds and Marsh got one wicket each for Deccan Chargers.
Deccan Chargers innings: Royals Challengers Bangalore had set target of 185 runs to win for Deccan Chargers. Skipper Adam Gilchrist started the inning for Deccan Chargers along with MD Mishra. Team lost Mishra early when he was at an individual score of 9 runs; he was caught by wicket keeper Robin Uthappa on the ball of Parveen Kumar. TL Suman came to bat at number three when team had lost Mishra early. He was looking in good form and started contributing for team along with skipper. Adam Gilchrist was stumped by Robin Uthappa on the ball of Anil Kumble when he was at an individual score of 32 runs off 19 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes in his inning. Gilchrist and Suman made partnership of 77 runs for second wicket. Rohit Sharma joined Suman in mddle to continue the campaign of team to get the winning total. He failed to add much for the team and lost his wicket after scoring six runs. He was caught by Steyn on the ball of Vinay Kumar. Deccan Chargers were now at total of 95 runs and had lost their three important wickets. Andrew Symonds was next man who came to bat. He started hitting shots all side and boosted team from his batting. None of Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler was able to control them. Suman and Andrew Symonds made partnership of unbeaten 91 runs which made team win the match. Suman scored 78 runs off 57 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes while Andrew Symonds played quicker and scored 53 runs off 24 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes in his inning. Deccan Charges scored 186 runs losing 3 wickets in 19.2 overs and won the match by seven wickets. From Royal Challengers Bangalore, Steyn , Parveen Kumar and Vinary Kumar took one wicket each.Share
