KKR Defeated Delhi Daredevils By 14 Runs

KKR defeated Delhi Daredevils: In 39th match of Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Daredevils. Skipper Sourav Ganguly won the coin toss and elected to bat first. KKR got good start as skipper Sourav Ganguly along with Chris Gayle made partnership of 94 runs in first 10 overs. After that at end Angelo Mathews and Manoj Tiwary made unbeaten partnership of 70 runs. These good partnerships by KKR made team reach a respectable score of 181 runs in 20 overs. In return, Delhi Daredevils lost first wicket as David Warner without scoring any run but Virender Sehwag along with skipper Gautam Gambhir made partnership of 99 runs but after them no one was able to make team reach the winning total. Delhi Daredevils lost eight wickets in 20 overs and scored 167 runs against 181 runs by KKR. It was fifth victory of KKR in the tournament while fourth loss of Delhi Daredevils.

Sourav Ganguly and Chris Gayle gave perfect start to KKR: Skipper Sourav Ganguly gave a perfect start to team with Chris Gayle. Ganguly was playing his natural shots while on other side Chris Gayle was scoring quick runs for the team. Team lost wicket of Chris Gayle on second ball of eleventh over but till then team had already scored 94 runs. Sourav Ganguly played a skipper’s inning and completed his sixth half century of Indian Premier League. Before becoming victim of Vettori, Ganguly played extremely well and scored 56 runs off 46 balls with eight boundaries and one six in his brilliant inning. Team was at total of 104 runs when lost their skipper and Delhi Daredevils also managed to send McCullum to pavilion cheaply. Later Manoj Tiwary and Angelo Mathews did good job for team in last seven overs. Manoj Tiwary scored unbeaten 26 runs off 18 balls while Angelo Mathews was on fire and scored 46 runs off 28 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. It was good start and good finish by Kolkata Knight Riders as they set target of 182 runs to win for opponent team.


Good partnership of Shewag and Gambhir went waste: Ashok Dinda got first wicket of Delhi Daredevils on second ball of very first over of their inning but after that Virender Sehwag along with skipper Gautam Gambhir made big partnership of 99 runs. Delhi Daredevils was in strong position as both batsmen were set but direct throw by Ganguly changed the scene of game. Gautam Gambhir lost his wicket during running between the wickets due to direct throw by Sourav Ganguly. He scored 47 runs off 29 balls with six fours and 1 six. Collingwood lost wicket cheaply while after him Virender Sehwag became victim of Ajit Agarkar when he was at an individual score of 64 runs off 40 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. After him, Dinesh Karthik scored 20 runs while Vettori was unbeaten at 12 run and rest of batsmen even failed to reach in double digit score and as a result, Delhi Daredevils lost the match even after good partnership of 99 runs by Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. Delhi Daredevils is at second rank in points tally while Mumbai Indians holding first position.
