IPL match on March 30: 27th match of third season of Indian Premier League was played between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians was already at top in the IPL point tally after winning their five matches from the six matches they played while Kings XI Punjab was at lowest by losing five of their six matches. In today’s match, Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar won the coin toss and invited Kings XI Punjab to bat first. Batting first Kings XI Punjab scored total of 163 runs and lost their all wickets in 20 overs. In return Mumbai Indians got the required score by losing six wickets and won the match by four wickets when three balls were remaining to bowl. Skipper Sachin Tendulkar failed to show magic from his bad but S Dhawan and Tiwary helped the team to win the match. SL Malinga was given man of the match award for his brilliant bowling performance. He took four wickets in his fours over giving 22 runs.

Kings XI

Kings XI Punjab inning: Kings XI Punjab was invited to bat by Mumbai Indians. Ravi Bopara started the inning for Kings XI Punjab along with SE Marsh. Team had bad start as they lost the opener Ravi Bopara in the second over of the match when he had added just one run from his bat. He was found leg before wicket on the ball of Zaheer Khan when team was at total of 5 runs. Wicket keeper MS Bisla was nect man to come in middle to contribute for the team but he lost his wicket on fourth ball of fifth over when he was playing at 11 runs. He was caught by Zaheer Khan on the ball of Malinga. In the absence of Sangakara, DPMD Jayawardene was skipper of the team and he came to take the command of the team and tried to handle the situation. He was playing well and had scored 20 runs but lost his wicket during running between the wickets. Yuvraj Singh was next man to join to SE Marsh but was caught by Harbhajan Singh on the ball of Bravo when he had added just 2 runs from his bat. Irfan Pathan was next batsmen to bat and he contributed 18 runs off 14 balls with 1 four in his inning. He was caught by Harbhajan Singh on the ball fo Malinga. Bret Lee joined Marsh but Marsh lost his wicket on the ball of Malinga. SE Marsh scored 57 run off 47 balls with six fours and one six in his inning and he was highest scorer of the team. In the very next over Bret Lee was caught by Pollard on the ball of Zaheer Khan when he had added just 3 runs from his bat. K Goel added one run before becoming victim of Malinga while VS Malik added 6 runs before losing his wicket on the ball of Zaheer Khan. Piyush Chawla lost his wicket on the ball of the inning during running between the wickets. He added 22 runs off 13 balls with 3 fours in his inning. Kings XI Punjab scored total of 163 runs in 20 overs of Mumbai Indians had to chase target of 164 runs to win the match. Malinga was most successful bowler for Mumbai Indians who took four wickets while Zaheer Khan got 3 wickets and Bravo managed to get one wicket.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians innings: Mumbai Indians had to chase total of 164 runs to win the match. S Dhawan started the inning for Mumbai Indians along with skipper Sachin Tendulkar. Team lost their first wicket as skipper Tendulkar when he had added 11 runs from his bat. He was caught by Irfan Pathan on the ball of Piyush Chawla. Team was at total of 42 runs when lost their first wicket. Pollard was next man to take the charge for batting for the team and tired to score some quick runs for the team. He was caught by Ravi Bopara on the ball of Irfan Pathan when he was playing at 20 runs off 13 balls with 2 fours and 1 six in his inning. SS Tiwary was next man to come in middle to continue the campaign of team to win the match. S Dhawan was caught by Marsh on the ball of Ravi Bopara when he was at an individual score of 50 runs off 40 balls with 6 fours in his inning. Wicket keeper AT Rayudu failed to add much for the team and was caught by Yuvraj Singh on the ball of Srivastava. He added 9 runs off 12 balls with one four in his inning. Bravo also failed to contribute much for the team and lost his wicket after adding 8 runs off 4 balls with one six. Mumbai Indians lost their 5 wickets at total of 133 runs. SS TIwary played extremely well and added 31 runs for the team with one four and two sixes in his inning. He was caught by Goel on the ball of Bopara. R. Sathish scored unbeaten 17 runs off 9 balls with 2 fours in his inning. Mumabi Indians got the winning total in 19.3 overs and lost their six wickets. Ravi Bopara was most successful bowler from Kings XI Punjab who took three wickets while Piyush Chawla, SJ Srivastava and Irfan Pathan managed to get one wicket each. Kings XI Punjab lost the match and it was their sixth lose of the season.
