Chennai Super Kings

IPL match on March 28, 2010: 24th and 25th matches of third season of IPL played on March 28, 2010. First match of the day was between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings on field by electing to bat first. Team scored a total of 177 run after losing eight wickets in twenty overs while in return Chennai Super Kings failed to get the target and was able to score 160 run after losing 6 wickets. Rajasthan Royals won their fourth consecutive match after getting three loses. Naman Ojha was rewarded with man of the match award for his brilliant inning of 80 runs. Another match was played between Mumbai Indians and Deccan Charges at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. Mumbai Indians was put to bat as Deccan Chargers won the coin toss and elected to ball first. Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani was present with her husband Mukesh Ambani and team did not made them sad. Mumbai Indians scored a total of 172 runs after losing seven wickets in 20 overs while in return Deccan Chargers scored 131 runs and lost the match by difference of 41 runs. Harbhajan Singh played extremely well with bat first and then with ball and was suitably rewarded with man of the match award.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings: Rajasthan Royals had elected to bat first so MJ Lumb and Naman Ojha started the inning for the team. They gave a quick start to team hitting big hits. MI Lumb was caught by Thushara on the ball of Morkel when was at an individual score of 30 runs off just 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes in his inning. Naman Ojha continued the campaign for the team and FY Fazal joined him in middle. Fazal was not able to add much for the team and lost his wicket after adding 17 runs from his bat. He was caught by Vijay on the ball of Jakati. Last match hero Yusuf Pathan failed in this match and was caught by Suresh Raina on the ball of Jakati when he had added 8 runs for the team.  Naman Ojha was playing extremely well and hold team till he was in middle. He lost his wicket on third ball of eighteenth over. He scored 80 runs from his bat off 49 balls with six fours and five sixes in his brilliant inning. He was caught by Joginder Sharma on the ball of Thushara. Team was at total of 155 runs when team lost their fourth wicket as wicket keeper Naman Ojha. AC Voges added 20 runs from his bat before losing his wicket on second ball of nineteenth over. In last over team lost P Dogra, Jhunjhunwala and skipper Shane Warne without adding much for the team. It was brilliant inning of Naman Ojha which made team reach a respectable score of 177 runs.Morkel, Thushara and Jakati all took two wickets each for Chennai Super Kings. Chasing the total of 178 runs to win Chennai Super Kings had a bad start as they lost Mathew Hayden early on fourth ball of fourth over when team was at total of 24 and he has added 19 runs from his bat with 1 four and 1 six in his inning. He was caught by Yusuf Pathan on his own ball. Murli Vijay on other tried to make team’s condition strong and Suresh Raina was also in middle to show his talent. Murli Vijay lost his wicket during running between the wickets when he was at an individual score of 42 runs off 28 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. In the very next over Suresh Raina also lost his wicket when team was at total of 79 runs. He added 14 runs with the help of 1 four and 1 six. Skipper M S Dhoni scored 21 runs from his bat before losing his wicket during running between the wickets. S Badrinath tried to tackle the condition along with Morkel. Badrinath was caught by Yusuf Pathan on the ball of Tait when he was at individual score of 25 runs. Morkel tried to give a new look to the match hitting three sixes in one over of Shane Warne but he was soon caught by Fazal on the ball of Tait. He scored quick 28 runs off 12 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes in his inning. Karthik and Thushara were unbeaten at 3 and 2 runs respectively and team made total of 160 runs in twenty overs losing six wickets. Team failed to get the winning total and Rajasthan Royals won the match by 17 runs. SW Tait took 2 wickets while Yusuf Pathan and Shane Warne got one wicket each.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians beats Deccan Chargers: Deccan Chargers had invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. Team had bad start as team lost Dhawan on the third ball of fourth over when he had added just 8 runs from his bat. The legend, Sachin Tendulkar was again at his best and played his natural game as skipper.  Bravo added 23 runs from his bat before losing his wicket. He was caught by Symonds on the ball of RP Singh. Sachin Tendulkar was holding one side while rests of players were making the walk without adding much. Sachin Tendulkar scored 55 runs off 43 runs with 9 fours in his inning. He was caught by Adam Gilchrist on the ball of RP Singh. Team was at total of 119 runs in 16.4 overs when team lost Tendulkar’s wicket. Harbhajan Singh played extremely well after that and scored 49 runs off just 18 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes in his brilliant inning. He made team score a total of 172 runs at end of 20 overs. RP Singht took 3 wickets while Jaskaran Singh and PP Ojha got two wickets each for Deccan Chargers. In return Deccan Chargers played a poor game and none of their batsmen was able to score well other than Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma added 45 runs for the team and other scorer for team was Gibbs who added 27 runs while rest of batsman were not even able to score above 15 runs. Deccan Chargers lost their all wickets in 17.4 overs at total of 131 runs and lost the match by 41 runs. Harbhajan Singh, Malinga and Zaheer Khan took three wickets each for the team while Pollard managed to get one wicket.
