Injured players left: Today Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Indian team for the first test match against South African team. First test match will be starting in Nagpur on February 6, 2010. There are many changes in the squad because many players are important which are replaced by new faces. Former skipper Rahul Dravid well known as “The Great Wall” had fractured his jaw during the second test match against Bangladesh played in Mirpur when he was at 111 runs and he has been advised by doctors for rest of three weeks while smashing left handed batsman Yuvraj Singh has an injury in his left wrist due to which he did not bat in second test match even. S. Sreesanth is suffering from a hamstring strain due to which he will not be available for first test against South Africa but it is expected that he will recover till second test match starting from February 14 and will be played in Kolkata. Kris Srikkanth, chairman of India’s cricket selection committee said that they will keep a eye on the fitness report of all these players and if he will find them 100 percent fit then he will call them for second test match.

Wriddhiman Saha

New faces in team: As some of experienced players are injured so new comers have got a chance to show their talent in first test match. Wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has given chance at the place of Dinesh Karthik while a medium-fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun has got chance because of his excellent performance in domestic season and Sreesanth is injured. Middle-order batsman S. Badrinath and medium fast bowler Sudeep Tyagi are also included in 15 man squad. It is important concern for the selection for the board to find some good fast bowlers for especially for the test matches who can play for the team while others are not fit.

Abhimanyu Mithun

Indian squad for first test match: This series is very important for Indian team as Indian team is at rank one in the test ranking and if team will lose the series by 2-0 then India will also lose their first spot while by losing with 1-0 will make both teams with equal points so both teams will try their best to win the series. Fifteen man squad announced by BCCI includes Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Murali Vijay, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Subramaniam Badrinath, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Sudeep Tyagi, Pragyan Ojha, Abhimanyu Mithun and Wriddhiman Saha. It is expected that there will be good competition between the two teams and it will not be as easy for Indian team to win the series as they won against Bangladesh.
