Dhoni salutes bowlers: Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given credit to the bowlers for winning the test series in Bangladesh. He said it was not an easy task for spinner as well as for pace bowlers to get wickets in this track but bowlers did their job extremely well to make India win. He praised Zaheer Khan for his extra ordinary performance in the match taking first time ten wickets in his career in a single match. In the second Inning Bangladeshi team was moving in strong conditions before drinks break as they had reached to score of 290 runs and having 7 wickets in their hand but after that they lost their all seven wickets adding just 22 runs more to the team’s total. Dhoni said that the ball was getting old and this wicket was getting slower and slower and it was reason to ball first and if you bat then you need to score 600 runs plus otherwise you have to come to bat again which is a tough job but bowler did terrific job.

Zaheer Khan’s best performance: It was ninth instance when Indian bowlers took 7 wickets in an inning of test match as it is done before by Kapil Dev five times while Lala Amar Singh, Javagal Srinath and Irfan Pathan have done this job once each. Zaheer Khan took 10 wickets in the match out of total 20 wickets which proved his improvement in bowling. He was rewarded for his excellent performance in the match by Man of the Match award while Man of the Series award for consistent performance throughout the series. Zaheer Khan was out of form for several months last year after a major operation of shoulder in July and returned to Indian team during series against Sri Lanka two months ago. Zaheer Khan said that it was tough to take wickets as wicket was slow but once it stared reverse swing then it gave big hope for bowlers. He said that he is happy with his performance which he showed and it has boosted his morale. Adding to his statement he said he still need to work on his fitness as his shoulder still needs to be monitored and has to do the rehab exercises.

Spinner also got credit: Skipper Dhoni did not forget the spinner’s contribution as they sparked the collapse of Bangladeshi team on the fourth day of match. He praised left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha for taking two wickets in the inning specially wicket of Ashraful. Harbhajan Singh had taken first wicket of fourth day game of Shahadat Hossain who scored 40 runs and in the very next over Ojha picked Mohammad Ashraful and soon he managed to get wicket of Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan as well and rest of work is done by Zaheer Khan.
