YouTube To Show IPL Matches


YouTube to show IPL matches: Indian Premier League has given sponsorship for live broadcast of all 60 matches in 45 days season. IPL has given rights to YouTube for two year for broadcasting matches of IPL all over world except United States of America. It is like a new revolution in sports world where fans from any part of world would be able to access the match live on YouTube. In most of the countries YouTube will broadcast exclusive live while in some counties where television has also broadcast rights in those countries it will be broadcast some moments late. The revenue will be shared by both parties league as well as by Google from the various advertisements and sponsorships. Shailesh Rao, senior manager of Google India said they are happy with the deal to have IPL as their global partner and it will provide the sports and entertainment companies to take their content to people from the globe and its also a good opportunity for the advertisers.

Freedom with YouTube: Viewers will have freedom to watch the match from anywhere and they can control the camera angles. Viewers will be able to rewind, fast forward and freeze at any moment. Viewers can replay any moment of match which is not freedom on television as that is controlled by broadcasters. Viewers will be able to choose from which camera they want to watch the broadcast and these are not options available for people watching on television which are bound to the broadcasting cameras as well as schedules. YouTube will provide live broadcast streaming in most of countries so people from all over world, except in USA, will be able to watch match live on through their internet.


About IPL: Indian Premier League started in year 2008 is a twenty over cricket competition which is created by Board of Control for Cricket in India. IPL teams are owned by many big business tycoons and bollywood stars.  The international players from various teams play in the IPL teams. Lalit Modi, Chairman and Commissioner of IPL, did not tell whether this broadcast will be on subscription or free but he told internet has changed the lives of everyone and hope that it will do same with sports. He said they are taking the event truly global for the first time with Google which gives access to 500 million people in single moment on the same day. He told that in most of countries it will be nearly live just a few minutes later while in most of countries it will be live streaming. First season of the IPL was hosted by India which started on April 18, 2008 and ended with victory of Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings on June 1, 2008 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Second season of IPL was not hosted in India as dates clashed with elections and government refused to provide proper security so it was organized in South Africa and Deccan Chargers won the tournament.
