Volkswagen Polo in India: Volkswagen has launched their premium small car Volkswagen Polo during the Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi. Volkswagen is among largest car producing company of Europe and well known for their quality product. In India they have launched for first time their small car Polo with hatchback which will be available in market from March first week. The price of car is still not decided yet but it is believed that cost will be around Rs 4.75 lakh and it will attract people. It will give tough fight to various cars which are available or launched recently like Fiat Punto, Suzuki Swift and will be in price range of car Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, and Skoda Fabia, Chevrolet Beat. They have also launched Race Polo with a mean 1.6 litre TDI enginer with 130 bhp and 250 Nm mated to a six-speed manual with Sachs adjustable suspension and upgraded exhaust and brakes, 17 inch wheels wrapped with slick tyres, data logger system and additional display.
Features of VW Polo: Volkswagen Polo is available in both kinds of fuels diesel as well as petrol. Car will be available in two 75 bhp 1.2 litre engines. Both petrol and diesel version are provided with five speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine produces torque of 180 Nm at 2000 rpm while petrol engine produces 110 Nm of twist at 3750 rpm. The car is having many good features and is made attractive as well. There are three trim levels trendline, comfortline and highline with dual airbags and ABS standards across the board. Car will be available in silver, white, red and blue colours at starting while later orange can also be available may be. The exterior of Polo will have body coloured bumpers with green tinted heat absorbing glass, halogen headlights and car body is galvanized to protect from corrosion. Car has many other attractive features as well like electronic Anti theft immobilizer, power steering, height adjustable seats, CD and MP3 player with 4 speakers, dual air bags and an unique boot opener.
Production plant of VW in India: Volkswagen has made a production plant in Chakan, Pune with capacity of producing 110,000 vehicles per year. They will produce around 2500 cars this year. The plant has started the production already and cars will be available in showrooms in March for sale. The company said that Volkswagen Polo will have 50 per cent localisation and will be rolled out of Volkswagen’s Chakan plant. These cars produced in Chakan plant will be only for sale in India and Indian market is taken in consideration for the production of this small car. Company will make available the sedan version of Volkswagen Polo as well in the later half of this year.Share
