He told if beef will be imported during the games as per international games menu then it will be only served to guests and sports persons and will not be for a general consumption. The games organizing committee said that they will have to prepare the menu as per the international commitments. Secretary General of Organizing Committee, Lalit Bhanot said that they will serve all kind of food from across the world and cuisine will be continental, African, Caribbean as well. He said that there are some requirements for hosting international level of event and we have to meet those requirements. The menu is prepared and it needs clearance from the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Oppose of beef in Delhi: A meeting held in Delhi on Monday of more than 250 municipal councilors where they discussed about the beef to be served during the games or not. Cow is religious animal for Indians and most of people worship cows so we can’t allow anyone to slaughter cow for any kind of commitments or event. Subhash Arya, leader of MCD House said that they can’t allow serving beef in Delhi as religious sentiments of majority of Delhi people are linked with it and it is illegal in Delhi as well. Adding to his statement he said that Games villages come under the MCD and we will never allow serving beef in our region on the name of any kind of commitment. It is not a political issue and Congress councilors as well as BJP both are against serving of beef in the city whether it is for sportspersons or for guests. The municipal councilors have planned to write to Governor for the issue that beef should not be served in the city and this item should be dropped from the menu list. There are also a large number of food items which can be served so it will not make difference if one food item will be dropped from the list.Share
