India wins a cliffhanger: Today, on Tuesday India has really won the cliffhanger as up to the last stage even it was not certain about the result. But, at last India has won the first One Day International 50 overs match from Sri Lanka at Rajkot by 3 runs only by achieving very difficult target. The scores were very high 414; India achieved it with the high spirit and enthusiasm. Similarly they have shown their patience and sparkling efficiency in fielding also and didn’t allow Srilanka to reach the toughest target whereas, Sril Lanka has recorded their second highest run chase in one day history of the cricket world. Today, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to field first and let the Indian soldiers to go for the batting.  So, India started with its openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Sachin started the game with his aggressiveness and contributed 69 runs in just 63 balls with 10 fours and 1 six , whereas Sehwag started late but scored a brilliant 146 runs in just 102 balls with 17 fours and 6 sixes. His strike rate was 143.14. Their partnership broke when sachin got out in 20th over at Chanaka Welegedara bowling.sachin and sehwag contributed 153 runs but it was just the starting after that Mahender Singh Dhoni entered with aggressive condition and made 72 runs in 53 balls which include 7 fours and 3 sixes with strike rate 135.85. The couple (Sehwag and Dhoni) contributed brilliant scores of 156 runs and added a step to the victory of the country. But Virender Sehwag had gone off after 35th over by the thounderable balling of Chanaka Welegedara. And MS Dhoni went off in the very next over only after brilliant 72 runs. Now Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir commanded the team’s batting, but not shown very good partnership as Gautam Gambhir scored only 11 runs against 8 balls with one four without sixes. He got out of field in 39th over whereas Suresh Raina scored only 16 runs in 20 balls with two fours and gone off in 43rd over. Up to this moment India had lost its all important wickets. After getting 11 scores in 13 balls Harbhajan left the field similarly Virat Kohli made 27 in 19 balls with four fours and went off. And at last Ravinder Jadeja and Parveen Kumar remained not out at 30 and 7 runs. Similarly, India got benefit of several extra scores also like: No Balls 6, Wide Balls 12, Leg byes as 4 and Byes 5. Virender Sehwag was awarded the tiltle of Man Of the match with the bonus Cheque of Rs.1 Lakhs.

Sri Lankan Team at Strike: Sri Lankan Team started with their open batsmen WU Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan with a very good energy level and shown good results also. Tharanga made 67 runs in 60 balls which included 3 fours and 4 sixes and with the run rate of 111.67. Whereas, Dilshan got very good scores of 160 in 124 balls with strike rate 129.03.A very appreciable and marvelous performance given by these two batsmen.  Srilanka’s very first wicket fell at the scores of 188 i.e. WU Tharanga got out in 23.6 overs. Kumar Sangakkara came as the substitute of Tharanga and made 90 runs in 43 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes with the run rate of 209.3. But he got out at the total scores of 316 and in 36.3 overs. Then came their next player- Sanath Jaya Suriya, who played for only 4 balls and made 5 runs and got out at 37.3 overs only. The next was their 32 years old player Mahela Jayawardene, who was run out by Virat Kohli by getting only 3 runs against 8 balls with the run rate of 37.5.  Thilina Kandamby was the next Sri Lankan player who came at the place of Dilshan and made 24 for 25 balls and took 2 fours with the strike rate of 96. He was also run out by Sachin Tendulkar. Angelo Mathews joined when Mahela Jayawardene gone off. Angelo made 38 scores against 33 balls and took two fours also with a strike rate of 115.5. Thilina Kandamby had gone out at the total scores of Sri Lanka – 401 in 48.2 overs. Thilan Samaraweera joined next and went off at the very first ball only without taking any score. He was run out against the ball of Suresh Raina. Nuwan Kulasekara and Chanaka Welegedara were the last batsmen remained not out at 2 and 1 respectively.Thilan Samaraweera went off at 48.6th over and Angelo Mathews was gone at 49.4 Th over. The extra benefits given to Sri Lankan team  were No Ball only one, wide balls to be 13 , Leg Byes were 7 and no Byes as well as no penalties.

The Man Of The Match- Virender Sehwag:  Virender Sehwag was born on 20th October 1978 in Delhi. He is one of the leading batsmen of Indian Cricket Team. Virender Sehwag is an opening batsman of Indian cricket team who is very aggressive and playing right handed but occasionally right-arm off spin bowler. He played his first ODI in 1999 and joined the Indian Test Cricket team in 2001. Sehwag is the only Indian player who was honored as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the world for his best performance in 2008. Sehwag was born into a Jat family from Haryana.  Sehwag has got several multiple records which include the highest score made by an Indian in test cricket as 319, which was also the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket. Virender Sehwag was appointed as vice captain of the Indian Team under the captainship of Rahul Dravid in October 2005, but he couldn’t perform well and replaced by V.V.S Laxman in December 2006. But he was re-appointed as the vice-captain for Tests as well as One day international cricket in 2008. He had reestablished and proved himself as one of the best batsmen in one day international cricket.
