India is all set to defend the title of T20 World champions. This tournament would see 12 teams competing to get the title of world champions in the fastest form of game. There are few which everyone chooses as hot favorite. There are minnows as well who have the capability to disappoint any team as they did in the last edition of the tournament. Let’s have a look on all of them one by one.
NETHERLANDS: This team has two classy professional bolstering them. The all rounder Ryan Doeschate and pace bowler Dirk Nannes. The Squad includes, Jeroen Smits, the skipper, Mudassar Bukhari, Mauritis Jonkman, Dirk Nannes, Darron Reekers, Pieter Seelar, Ryan Ten Doeschate, Bas Zuiderent, Peter Borren, Tom De Grooth, Alexei Kervezee, Ruud Nijman, Edgar Schiferli, Eric Szwarczynski, and Daan Van Bunge.
Netherlands got qualified to the ICC World Twenty20 surprisingly when it defeated Scotland by five wickets. This victory comes with a historic moment in the history of Dutch as they have not only qualified in the World cup but also got a chance to play the opening match of the ICC World Twenty20 Cup 2009 against England at Lords. This ground generally regarded as the home of cricket would also watch this team playing against another giant called Pakistan. Both the games are important for Holland as it is considered the weakest team of the group. If the hosts win in the opening match today, game against Pakistan would be a do or die for them as to enter into Super 8 Group they must perform well to beat at least one of the other two teams in the group.
Doeschate would be the key player in this side. He is an excellent all rounder who has played for Essex and Western Province in the domestic cricket and he was the Key holder in the qualifiers as he helped his team qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2009. Another player who has established himself as a young talent in associate cricket. He has a county contract with Worcestershire. Peter Borren is also having experience under his belt. In last edition of ICC Cricket World Cup in 2007 Netherlands defeated Scotland. One more thing we may not forget about this team is Six Sixes in the over of Herschelle Gibbes by Daan Van Bunge.Share
