Bollywood industry which is known for its liveliness have provided several hit movies in the year 2011 but along with it, they have lost some real gems of the Bollywood industry in the same year like Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand, Navin Nischol and Goga Kapoor or Anthony Gomes. They have also lost some filmmakers like Surinder Kapoor, Shamin Desai, Jagmohan Mundhra, Mani Kaul and MF Hussain as well as signers like Jagjit Singh, Bhimsen Joshi, Suchitra Mitra, Bhupen Hazarika.

Shammi Kapoor: One of the famous Bollywood actors popularly known as dancing star of Indian industry, died at the Breach Candy hospital on 14th August, 2011 at 5.15 am on Sunday. He was died of kidney failure. At the time of death, he was 79-year-old. He had been unwell from past few months and was on dialysis. He was the second son of Prithviraj Kapoor who entered in the Hindi cinema in the year 1948 as a junior artist. His debut movie with a lead role came in the year 1953 with Jeevan Jyoti. He had starred in several Blockbuster Hindi films. Other successful movies of him include Junglee, Professor, Brahmchari and Janwar. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Dev Anand: Most romantic hero of Bollywood industry, Dev Anand was also died in the same year because of heart attack. He was died in London on 3rd December, 2011 where he was with his son. At that time, he was 88-year-old. He made his debut in the Hindi film industry with the movie Hum Ek Hain in the year 1946. In next few years, he became the most desirable and demanding star of the Indian cinema. His good look, melodious voice made him popular among girls. Later, he tried his luck in film direction and produced number of movies.

Navin Nischol: Another Bollywood star Navin Nischol also died in 2011. He was died of heart attack on 19th March, 2011 when he was coming back to Mumbai from Pune after spending Holi. The producer Gurdeep Singh was with him at that time. At the time of his death, he was 65-year-old. He started his debut with actress Rekha in Saawan Badho and later had appeared in several movies. He played important roles in several hit movies.

About Jagjit Singh:
Jagjit Singh just like his name has won millions of world across the world. His unique style of singing made him one of the legendary singers of India. He had changed the dimensions of Ghazals with his mix of classical and western music. Born on 8th Feb 1941 in Shriganganagar, Rajasthan, Jagjit Singh trained under Ustad Jamal Khan of the Senia Gharana. Jagjit Singh belonged to a sikh religious family. His father Amar Singh Dhiman, was a government employee and mother Bachan Kaur was house wife. In his family, he had two brothers and four sisters. His was inspired by his to sing the religious chants in ragas. But as he grew up, he was more drawn towards the modern music.
Training:
Since his childhood, he was associated with music. In Sriganganagr, he started learning music under Pandit Chagganlal Sharma. He took training from his for two years. Later he devoted six years to learn Khayal, Thumri and Dhrupad forms of Indian Classical Music from Ustad Jamaal Khan of the Sainia Gharana.
Struggle:
The Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University and Kurukshetra University, Late Professor Suraj Bhan encouraged his music talent and after completing his graduation from D.A.V. College at Jalandhar he came to Mumbai for trying his luck in a playback singing. He came to Mumbai in the year 1961 and lived as a paying guest. During his struggle, he used to sing at different parties and functions. He started his debut with a Gujarati movie Dharati Na Chhoru.
